The Liberando Studio Series is a six-week creative writing and arts experience designed for middle school girls in grades 6–8. Hosted in partnership with The Creative Studio in San Leandro, each series invites girls into a small, welcoming community where creativity, connection, and self-expression come together.
Through creative writing, art, conversation, and joyful collaboration, girls are encouraged to discover their voices, strengthen their confidence, and experience the power of creating alongside others.
Whether your daughter already loves writing or is simply curious to explore something new, the Studio Series offers a supportive environment where every voice matters.
This Season's Studio Series
Writing Our Stories
Every Studio Series explores a different creative theme through writing, art, and community.
Our inaugural series, Writing Our Stories, invites girls to explore the stories that shape who they are and the stories they are still writing.
Over six weeks, participants will write, create, reflect, and connect around themes such as:
- Identity
- Family
- Voice
- Culture
- Courage
- Dreams for the future
Together, we'll read inspiring excerpts, respond to creative prompts, create meaningful art, and celebrate the many ways our stories help us understand ourselves and one another.
No previous writing experience is needed. Only curiosity and a willingness to create.
What Girls Will Experience
Each weekly gathering is thoughtfully designed to nurture both creativity and connection.
Girls will experience:
- Creative writing inspired by meaningful themes and mentor texts
- Art activities that deepen imagination and reflection
- Interactive games and community-building experiences
- Meaningful conversations in a welcoming, supportive environment
- Opportunities to share their writing in affirming and encouraging ways
- A culturally affirming space where language and cultura are celebrated
Every session is intentionally designed to help girls leave feeling more connected to themselves, to one another, and to their creativity.

The Liberando Studio Series is designed for middle school girls in grades 6–8.
Our programming centers Chicana/Latina teen experiences through a culturally relevant, arts-based approach while welcoming all girls who are excited to write, create, and learn in community.

Who: Middle school girls (Grades 6–8)
Series Length: Six weeks, one 2-hour session per week
Dates: Wednesdays from September 16 to October 21, 2026
Time: 3pm to 5pm
Location: The Creative Studio, 444 Estudillo Ave, San Leandro, CA
Cost: $495 early registration, $550 regular

For the past two years, Liberando has created spaces where middle school girls discover the power of their voices through creative writing, artistic expression, and community.
